“What’s Missing In Your Life Is FAITH!”

I just had a minor epiphany …

As I was complaining through the airport last night,
I kept running a random affirmation through my
mind over and over.  I can’t even remember what
it was now.  It had something to do with a current
challenge of mine that has really been weighing
heavily on my heart (something about needing a
private jet).

So I’m running this positive thought through my
head over and over and over, but then, out of
nowhere, a much louder thought overrode it all …

"I’m wasting my time."

Can you imagine?  At first I thought it was the
dang devil, so I just changed channels (real
important to learn how to do that effectively). But
then I realized that it was actually true.

I was wasting my time.

Before I finish this story, I have to tell you that I
am almost sold out of the $1 "Book For A Buck"
Black Friday sale.  Plus it ends at midnight tonight.

(I have to tell you these things as they come to my
mind or else my A.D.D. will win)

So here’s what I realized …

Thinking positive thoughts does almost nothing …

Unless those thoughts are coupled with faith.

Faith takes a little more work than reading or reciting
or even hoping.

Faith is actually believing what you are thinking!

Faith is seeing the realization of your affirmation
in your mind’s eye!

Faith is feeling what it will be like to have your
dream, and rejoicing in it!

Faith is expecting your desires to to be manifest in
real life!

Faith is the driving force behind every positive
and loving thing this world has ever seen or done.

"And this is the victory that has overcome the world …
our faith."

Have you seen the movie The Secret?  They talk a little
about this whole "feeling your goals thing."

The moment I stopped repeating mere words in my head
and instead started picturing and feeling and expecting
the overall concept to actually happen … I felt something
change in my spirit.  An overwhelming sense of what I
would call "rightness" came over me.  A knowing that
this particular thing was now going to happen.  And it
was not about a private jet.  That was a JOKE,
Preston.  Stop judging me.

Believe first.  Then receive.

Most people are waiting to receive things that they never
really believed they would get in the first place.  And
they’re bitter about it.  What they really should be bitter
about is that no one took the time to explain to them how
the universe really works.

It literally runs on faith.

 - Faith is like gasoline in a car.

 - It’s like rocket fuel in a space shuttle.

 - It’s like the energy that runs your home.

 - It’s like the clinical insanity that drives Hollywood.

Nothing happens without it.  Nothing goes anywhere.
Your car wouldn’t leave your driveway.  The space
shuttle would never lift off (no matter how many times
it told itself it would), your house would suck, and
Hollywood would be boring.

You don’t a boring Holly wood do you?  Stop having
a boring Hollywood.  Stop having a boring life.

So how do you get that faith?

How you can you logically expect something to happen
that you have absolutely no control over?

A huge part of true faith requires belief in a loving God
who actually wants good things for you and makes things
happen on your behalf.  That’s just common sense really.
Argue if you want, but it’ll just make me right and you
an idiot.

"Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God."

Romans 10:17

So the easy way to get it is to start paying attention to
God.  You know … the One who created you and all?  The
one you’ve been avoiding your entire life?  He has a name.
But let’s not worry about that right now.  You’ll be meeting
Him soon enough.

The hard way is to just practice it on your own.  It’ll
work good enough I suppose.  For material things anyways.
Getting cars, money, clothes … that kinda thing.

Try it now.

What do you want?  What’s the #1 thing you want right
now?  Declare out loud that it’s on the way to you right
now.  That you know you’re going to have it.  Thank the
Mystery Thing Of The Universe in advance for giving it
to you.  Just say "thank you thank you thank you Mystery
Thing Who Gives Me Things Just Because I’m A Good
Person.*  I really appreciate you doing this for me!"

The Mystery Thing will probably give it to you because
He’s frustratingly graceful.  But He’s rolling His eyes at
you while He does it.  Just thought I’d throw that out
there.

Do what you want with this post.  I’m just trying to help
is all.

Peace.

 - Preston

I also posted this on your FB page. :-)

Thank you for your email about combining faith with visualization. As a Christian, I always thought the “Secret” was a little weak – as if God is some vending machine where we put visualizations in and blessings pop out. I know God wants the very best for us, but not in some disconnected way. Faith is obviously the …catalyst. He wants us to know and expect what he will give us because of his great love for us. As a parent, I feel the same anticipation with Christmas coming…the kids have asked for things, they don’t know they’re going to get them, but I feel great joy anticipating how they will feel when they open up the good things I have for them. How much greater is God’s joy when we believe, with faith, that he will give us good things? Thank you for sending me just what I needed to hear. :-)
